Indiana Hoosiers Football Lands 2026 Three-Star DB Recruit and Son of NFL Champion

Three-star cornerback Lawrence “Jay” Timmons has committed to play football for the Indiana Hoosiers, his career will start in 2026 as Timmons Jr is a rising senior.

Timmons is the son of former NFL linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who spent a decade with the Pittsburgh Steelers and won a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2008. He also made the NFL Pro Bowl in 2014 and all rookie team in 2007.

Simmons who attends Pine-Richland in Gibsonia, PA plays both defensive back and wide receiver and is the No. 465 player overall in the class. Simmons is also ranked as the No. 14 player in the state of Pennsylvania and the 35th best corner back in the 2026 class according to 247 Sports.

Rivals.com rated the 5-foot-11, 175 pound Timmons as a three-star prospect and ranked him 17th in the state among 2026 graduates. The recruiting website ranked him 49th nationally among cornerback prospects.

He chose Indiana over Pittsburgh, Akron, Buffalo, Temple, Sacramento State, UConn, UNLV, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Syracuse and others.

As a junior at Pine Richland H.S, Timmons had 33 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 8 pass deflections and 3 defensive touchdowns.  Simmons also caught 24 passes for 485 yards and four touchdowns.

Indiana continues to add to its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Simmons. They have also landed three defensive tackle Rodney White, three-star linebacker Jacob Savage, three-star interior offensive lineman Sam Simpson, three-star cornerback Kasmir Hicks and four-star running back/linebacker Henry Ohlinger to their 2026 class.
