With the 2024-2025 basketball season coming to an end in the coming weeks, some teams have already seen their season end and begin looking towards next year. The Indiana Hoosiers were one of those teams, as they were left out of the NCAA Tournament and turned down any other postseason tournament.
So, with the Hoosiers season officially done, players have the ability to announce their intention to enter the transfer portal. So far, two Hoosiers have made their choice to enter the portal, Gabe Cupps and Malik Reneau. Reneau leaves the Hoosiers after three seasons at Indiana, his only three college seasons.
Reneau was the leading scorer for Indiana this season for a while until going down against Rutgers with a knee injury that sidelined him for a few weeks. When he finally came back from his injury, it took some time for Reneau to get back into rhythm, but once he did, he was the go-to guy for Indiana.
The Miami, Florida native will probably be one of the more sought-after players in the portal this offseason but don't think he will forget his Hoosier roots. In his social media post announcement about his intention to enter the transfer portal, Reneau made sure to thank the fans and everyone at Indiana who helped make him the player he is today.

Reneau came to Indiana out of high school and, to this point, had spent his entire college career with the Hoosiers. The junior forward thanked everyone from his coaches, teammates, and all the way down to the ushers in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for everything they did for him at Indiana.
Even though he is entering the transfer portal, Reneau said he will be a Hoosier for life. The transfer portal gives guys the opportunity to go somewhere else to try and get noticed for a professional career, but it doesn't always mean they forget where they started. Even with new head coach Darian DeVries, Reneau feels going to a different program might be what is best for him.
Hoosier nation wishes him luck on his next adventure!
