The Indiana Hoosiers football program have officially hired Chandler Whitmer as the school's new quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.

Chandler Whitmer who is currently the Atlanta Falcons’ pass game specialist will start his new gig with IU as its new coach when the Falcons season is over per Pete Thamel.

He will replace Tino Sunseri, who is leaving the role to be the offensive coordinator and playcaller at UCLA under head coach Deshaun Foster.

With Indiana's disappointing loss last night versus Notre Dame 27-17 in the first round of the CFP, Sunseri is out and Whitmer will be in at the start of the new year.

Before his time with the Falcons, Whitmer was an offensive quality control coach with the Los Angeles Chargers assisting quarterbacks, including former NFL Rookie of the Year Justin Herbert.

He also coached at Ohio State, Clemson and UConn as well as playing at UConn, Illinois and Butler (KS) Community College.

The projected starter(s) at quarterback are Tayven Jackson, Tyler Cherry or a transfer which is rumored to possibly be Fernando Mendoza from Cal. Whoever starts at QB and replaces Kurtis Rourke will be in good hands, as Whitmer has worked with Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Michael Penix Jr, Kirk Cousins, and Justin Herbert as mentioned before.
