6-foot-3, 300 pound defensive lineman Hosea Wheeler and former Western Kentucky star Hosea Walker has signed with Indiana, per On3’s Pete Nakos
Wheeler earned first-team All-Conference USA honors this season (2024) at Western Kentucky after posting five tackles for loss, two sacks and a pair of quarterback hits. He was a second-team all-conference selection in 2023.
In 2023 Wheeler played in all 13 of WKU’s games with 11 starts. He recorded 42 total tackles, including three for loss and two sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and a quarterback hurry. He was second-team All-Conference USA.
The Elk Grove (California) native played one season at Sacramento City College coming out of high school and had zero stars as a recruit.
He took visits to Texas A&M and Wisconsin last week before committing to the Hoosiers program.
Wheeler has one year of eligibility remaining and should be able to fill an immediate need for Indiana's interior defensive line. The Hoosiers are losing defensive tackles C.J. West and James Carpenter to eligibility following the 2024 season. IU also added Texas State senior Dominique Ratcliff this week in the transfer portal.
