He is the fourth IU player to win the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award. He joins Alex Dickerson (2009), Sam Travis (2012) and teammate Devin Taylor (2023) as the winners of the honor.
Hanley a native of Mason, Ohio hit 14 home runs and had 52 RBI's while starting all 54 games this regular season for the Hoosiers.
Hanley, was also named a second-team All-Big Ten selection and is the fourth player in Indiana baseball program history to win Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.
Hanley led all freshmen in the conference in batting average (.338), hits (71), home runs (14) and RBI (52). He also stood out defensively after taking over the first base position. He failed to commit an error in over 400 chances.
Hanley is the only freshman in the country to be named a finalist for the ABCA/Rawlings Division One Gold Glove team.
Previosuly in 2024 Hanley, was an all-state pitcher and first baseman at Mason, he named to theMaxPreps All-America Baseball Team in July 2024 and won Max Prep Player of the Year for the state of Indiana in 2024 while leading his team to a state championship.
With Big Ten All Conference outfielder Devin Taylor likely to enter the 2025 MLB Draft, Hanley will be the best player on the Hoosiers baseball team next season and have a huge void to fill as Taylor has been one of if not the best Hoosier to ever play for Indiana.
All gold glove winners will be named on Wednesday, June 18th per IU Athletics
