In today's social media landscape, it's almost a certainty that any major development in the college football world will quickly spread across social media platforms. Whether it be though excitement, frustration, memes, or just good old fashioned trolling, college football fans know how to make their voices heard online.
The biggest news in college football right now is the commitment of 5-star WR Monshun Sales to Indiana. Sales pledged his allegiance to the Hoosiers live on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon, choosing Indiana over a group of finalists that also included Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and LSU. The Lawrence North star chose to stay local, and now becomes the first 5-star high school commit in Indiana football program history.
Since Sales made things official and committed to Indiana, Hoosier fans have been having a field day online at the expense of Crimson Tide fans.
Monshun Sales picking Indiana over Alabama sends social media into a frenzy
Making Sales' commitment even sweeter is the fact that Curt Cignetti and Indiana beat out Kalen DeBoer and Alabama for his services. Other schools were in the mix, but Alabama was a serious contender all throughout the process. Sales has strong family ties to the state of Alabama, and grew up cheering on the Crimson Tide as a kid. He even had the nickname of "Bama" growing up.
Along with being a monumental recruiting win for Cignetti and the Hoosiers, it's also a stinging loss for the Crimson Tide -- who have become all too familiar with being dealt defeats at the hands of Indiana over the past few months. The Hoosiers ended the Crimson Tide's season back in January with an emphatic 38-3 win in the Rose Bowl. The victory began Indiana's run to a National Championship in the College Football Playoff.
Now after beating out Alabama for the top wide receiver in the country, Indiana fans aren't letting Alabama fans forget about it any time soon. Just check out some of these hilarious social media posts:

Along with handing Alabama a tough recruiting defeat, landing Sales also signals a dramatic shift in Indiana football recruiting. Gone are the days where Indiana is an overlooked program when it comes to 4 and 5 star high school prospects.
Indiana fans are sipping Bama tears yet again after Monshun Sales commits to Hoosiers
Cignetti's 2027 recruiting class now features seven blue chip recruits, and Sales' commitment shows that the Hoosiers are a legitimate recruiting threat to the traditional blue bloods such as Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Michigan, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon, and others.
Hoosier football fans also had some fun with that concept online as well:

No matter how you slice it, life is good being a Hoosier fan right now.
Looking ahead, Indiana has plenty of staying power under Cignetti's leadership in 2026 and beyond. What historic achievement will Cignetti accomplish next that sends social media into a frenzy?
