Indiana doesn't get favorable spot in On3's latest early Top 25 football rankings

Indiana is trying to recreate the success they had in 2024, but On3 doesn't have them ranked very high in order to do so.

The Indiana Hoosiers are working on trying to recreate the success they had in 2024 with a new slate of players, but this time, the same coaching staff. Curt Cignetti did his job in the first window of the transfer portal and now looks to spring practices to see what other positions he might need to hit from the second window of the transfer portal.

With the 2025 football season still so far away and spring practice getting ready to start, On3 released their latest early Top 25 college football rankings, and they did not have Indiana in the most favorable spot.

Bill Connelly with On3 had Indiana in his Top 25 rankings, but he had them ranked at No. 24.

These rankings by Connelly are based on three things: returning production based on the current roster, recent recruiting, and the team's performance over the last three seasons.

It is fair to say that Indiana has not had the best record over the last three seasons, but it should also be noted that they did completely change their coaching staff in 2024, bringing in Cignetti and letting him build his staff around him.

However, based on those three components, Connelly put the Hoosier at No. 24 in his rankings. Yes, Indiana lost a lot of players from their phenomenal 2024 roster, but Cignetti also worked hard to bring in quite a few players from the transfer portal, including highly rated quarterback Fernando Mendoza from Cal.

Cignetti also put together a great 2025 recruiting class, which was aided by the great body of work he put out onto the field in 2024. The 2025 roster certainly is going to look different, but Cignetti, in his time as a head coach, has dealt with a lot of turnovers on his teams, especially at the mid-major level, adn was always able to build winning teams despite it.

The Hoosiers certainly have a lot to prove in 2025 based on what they did in 2024, but don't count them or Cignetti out just yet because this is all just fuel for their fire in 2025.
