Indiana DC Bryant Haines' named one of highest paid assistants in college football

 Indiana defensive coordinator Bryant Haines has signed a new contract with the Hoosiers football program, that will make him one of the highest paid coordinators in the country.

Haines, a Broyles Award Finalist signed a new contract with Indiana and his starting salary is $2 million a year through the 2027 season, per a copy of the agreement according to The Herald-Times

According to a report from The Herald-Times, the exact details are Haines' being set to make at least $2 million per year through the 2027 season. Haines' year-over-year total base compensation is as follows:$2 million in 2025; $2.1 million in 2026; and $2.2 million in 2027

Bryant Haines is the third highest paid assistant coach in the Big Ten. The only two coordinators that are making more than $2 million a year are Wink Martindale at Michigan and Jim Knowles at Penn State.

“When you're successful and you win and you're a coordinator and your side of the ball excels — I think we're number one in the country against the run, number two in total defense, we're number one in Big Ten in other categories — he's done a great job for me,”Cignetti said.“I think he just completed his third year as coordinator. He's been with me 11 or 12 years — people are going to come after him.”

Indiana was ranked No. 2 in the nation on defense last season and are looking to repeat their major success as they return stars on that side of the ball including; defensive end Mikail Kamara, linebacker Aiden Fisher, cornerback D’Angelo Ponds and safety Amare Ferrell.

Haines is one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, which is awarded annually to the nation's top assistant coach. The Broyles Award winner will be announced Thursday, Feb. 13.
