The month of May has been a busy one for Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers on the recruiting front.
Cignetti has secured verbal commitments from four different recruits over the last week, which has brought Indiana's 2027 class to a total of seven players. Several more top prospects will be on campus over the next several weeks, and with Cignetti starting to gain some recruiting momentum, don't be surprised if IU's 2027 class sees more names get added to the mix sooner rather than later.

One name that Cignetti and company are firmly in the mix to land is 4-star EDGE Ifeanyi Emedobi. Hailing from Fort Wayne, the in-state product is rated as a 4-star prospect and ranked as the No. 10 player in the state of Indiana as well as the No. 37 EDGE in the country in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
On Friday night, Cignetti and the Hoosiers got some promising news when it comes to Emedobi's recruitment and decision-making process.

Hayes Fawcett of Rivals has reported that Emedobi is now down to four finalists. Hoosier fans are pleased to see Indiana in the mix.
It's an all-Big Ten recruiting chase now, as Emedobi's other finalists consist of Michigan, Penn State, and Minnesota.

Fawcett reports that the highly-coveted prospect has official visits locked in for all of his finalists. Indiana fans will want to keep an eye on the developments in Bloomington during the weekend of June 12, as that's when Emedobi will take his official visit to Indiana.
Other visits on his schedule include trips to Minnesota on May 29, Penn State on June 5, and Michigan on 19.
Interestingly enough, Emedobi has played just one season of organized football. Yet, his debut season at Northrop High School was enough to catch the attention of Power 4 teams across the country. In that season, the 6' 2" 215-pound pass rusher totaled 59 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks.
Curt Cignetti continues to build Indiana's 2027 recruiting class despite setback
As Cignetti continues to be on the prowl for future Hoosiers, Indiana fans have plenty of faith in his ability to deliver strong results. Cignetti is among the greatest evaluators of talent in all of college football, and it's clear that he has an effective system in place to develop that talent into a National Championship caliber team.
Earlier this week, Cignetti and the Hoosiers were dealt a tough blow when 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr abandoned his commitment to Indiana. Torbert was IU's highest-ranked recruit in the 2027 class, so it was tough to see that development occur. Nonetheless, Cignetti has landed four commitments since then and seems poised to keep the momentum going over the new few weeks.
As it stands, Indiana's 2027 class up to No. 42 in the country according to 247Sports. The class doesn't yet feature a defensive lineman, and adding a player like Emedobi to the mix would surely help that ranking move up.
