Under Curt Cignetti, the Indiana Hoosiers have turned a major recruiting corner. Cignetti has inked back-to-back Top-30 recruiting classes, and made history by landing Indiana's first-ever 5-star high school commit in the form of Lawrence North WR Monshun Sales.
Keeping tabs on incoming talent is a fun process for fans, as it gives a glimpse into the players making their way to Bloomington in the near future. When looking at Indiana's 2027 recruiting class, one player continuing to impress is WR Branden Sharpe.
Hailing from Brownsburg, Sharpe committed to Cignetti and the Hoosiers back in May, and the hype is continuing to build. Over the past few weeks, Sharpe has put together a strong start to the season that has fans talking about his bright future at Indiana.
Branden Shape putting up big numbers for No. 1 team in the state
Through three games of his senior season at Browsburg High School, the No. 1 team in the state, Sharpe has put up some dazzling performances. In total, he has racked up 16 catches for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns. Sharpe's full skill set has been on display, as he's flashed clean route-running skills, elite speed, and reliable hands that figure to make him a strong performer at the next level.

Cignetti has shown an elite ability to find and develop elite WR talent, most recently with Omar Cooper Jr. and Elijah Sarratt. Cooper was selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Jets, while Sarratt went in the fifth round to the Ravens. Current Hoosier wideout Charlie Becker is already garnering plenty of first round hype, while Nick Marsh is primed for a career-year as well. Sharpe could be the next standout Hoosier WR coming down the line.

Sharpe is currently rated as a 3-star prospect by Rivals and a 4-star prospect by 247Sports. Rivals has him pegged as the No. 57 WR in the country and No. 11 player in the state of Indiana for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
Sharpe was in attendance last weekend to watch the Hoosiers defeat North Texas 52-16 in the season opener. He was joined by fellow 2027 IU commits QB Jameson Purcell, OL Mason McDermott, and Sales.

Indiana football fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to recruiting. Indiana's 2027 class is ranked No. 29 in the country by Rivals, and Sharpe and Sales could make for Indiana's next great WR combo.
Last year it was Cooper and Sarratt. This year its Becker and Marsh. When looking ahead, Sharpe and Sales could become a must-watch WR duo for the Hoosiers.
Sales is the highest-ranked high school recruit in Indiana history, and his commitment to the Hoosiers took the recruiting world by storm over the summer. Sharpe racked up 59 catches for 1,143 yards, 19.4 yards per catch, and 13 touchdowns last season, and he is on pace to exceed those marks this season. Having them together in the same recruiting class gives the Hoosier WR room plenty of potential in 2027 and beyond.
