Three-time All-Star Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies can now add 2025 MLB All-Star MVP to his resume after his performance last night in Atlanta.
Schwarber overcame the opening booos in the intro to win MVP of the game last night. The National and American Leagues found themselves in a tie after nine innings, leading to Major League Baseball’s first-ever “swing off” to decide who would win the All-Star Game.
With three chances at the plate, Schwarber went a perfect three for three, knocking each pitch out of the park and giving the National League the lead, and eventually securing the victory.

The former Hoosier, Schwarber became the first designated hitter to win the MLB All-Star Game MVP award and the second player in Phillies history to be named as All-Star Game MVP, joining Johnny Callison who won in 1964.
Schwarber’s 27 home runs this season are his second most in any season before the break. He ranks fifth in the MLB in home runs and 10th in RBIs. He also leads the team in RBIs (63), runs (63), on-base percentage (.383), slugging percentage (.541) and OPS (.924).
The NL’s win is just the second time they have won since 2013 and the AL now holds a 48-45-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Schwarber was a two-time first-team All-American at Indiana. A .341 hitter in college, he ranks among the top 10 in school history in home runs (40), hits (238), runs (182) and slugging percentage (.607). He also helped lead the Hoosiers to their most recent trip to the College World Series in 2013.
The following year, he became the baseball program’s highest-drafted player when the Cubs chose him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 Draft.
