Hoosiers get major recruiting win with upcoming visit from 4-star EDGE

Curt Cignetti and his staff are hard at work on the recruiting trail looking to bring the Hoosiers of the future to Bloomington. After a historic National Championship winning season, Cignetti has re-tooled the Hoosiers through the transfer portal once again, but has also inked a top-20 recruiting class in the country for 2026.

This would be the path of least resistance for the Indiana Hoosiers to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament

Cignetti has also signed five players to IU's 2027 recruiting class, and he remains on the search for more elite talent. One player he is eyeing is 4-star EDGE Aidan O'Neil, who gave Indiana a big recruiting win when he locked in an official visit for the spring.

4-star EDGE Aidan O'Neil set to visit Indiana on May 15

O'Neil will take an official visit to Indiana on May 15, and he took to social media on Tuesday to announce the news.

As one of the most sought-after defensive linemen in the 2027 recruiting class, O'Neil has garnered plenty of attention from Power 4 teams across the country. Cignetti and the Hoosiers extended him an offer on May 7, 2025, and one year later he will be in Bloomington for an official visit.

The announcement has Hoosier fans fired up about the possibility of landing O'Neil, but IU one of several schools he will be visiting this spring. Along with Indiana, O'Neil will visit Illinois on April 10, Kentucky on June 5, Penn State on June 12, and Notre Dame on June 19. Indiana fans are hoping that his visit to Bloomington on May 15 leaves a lasting impact.

Hailing from Don Besco Prep in Ramsey, NJ, O'Neil is ranked as the 9 EDGE in the country and the No. 3 player in the state of New Jersey for the 2027 recruiting class. Furthermore, he is ranked as the No. 73 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports. Owning a 6'5" 240-pound frame, his strong skill set as a pass rusher has the potential to make for a solid fit in Bloomington.
