The start of the 2026 college football season is still several months away from starting up, but it's never too early to check out bowl projections.

Coming off a historic 16-0 season that culminated in a national title, Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers continue to take the college football world by storm. Cignetti has the Hoosiers well-positioned for another College Football Playoff run next season, as expectations continue to be high.

In the post-spring bowl projections from CBS Sports, Indiana fans would get the chance to cheer on the cream and crimson in Bloomington.

CBS Sports predicts that Indiana will host a CFP game next season

CBS Sports' Brad Crawford has Indiana pegged as the No. 6 seed in the 2026-27 College Football Playoff bracket. In their first round matchup, Crawford has Indiana facing No. 11 Ole Miss.

That projected matchup would mean that the Hoosiers would host a playoff game at Memorial Stadium. That is something Indiana fans have not yet experienced, and would be sure to create a raucous atmosphere.

The four teams earning a first round bye in Crawford's projection include No. 1 Miami (FL), No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Oregon, and No. 4 Notre Dame.

Last season, Indiana earned the No. 1 overall seed and earned a first round bye. In the previous season, the Hoosiers were the No. 10 seed and played their first round game on the road at No. 7 Notre Dame. Both seasons were obviously memorable, but hosting a playoff game would tkae Cignetti's tenure in Bloomington to another level.

Hosting a CFP game would be a welcome sight for Hoosier football fans

While Indiana fans are certainly eyeing another top-4 seed to get a first round bye, hosting a CFP game in Bloomington would be the next best thing for Indiana football fans.

Cignetti has turned things around in Bloomington in a major way, and hosting a CFP game at Memorial Stadium would give fans of IU football an experience they would never forget.

The Hoosiers are set to open the new campaign on Saturday, September 5 with a home matchup against North Texas. An official kick-off time has yet to be announced.
