The matchup between the Hoosiers and Wildcats presents a tremendous opportunity for DeVries and company. After an 18-14 season that resulting in missing the NCAA Tournament once again, the Hoosiers can make a statement by picking up a victory against Kentucky in Indianapolis. Kentucky went 21-13 and finished 7th in the SEC to earn a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Facing No. 10 Santa Clara, the Wildcats delivered one of the biggest March Madness moments of this past tournament when Otega Oweh drained a 32-foot shot to tie the game at the buzzer. The Wildcats went on to win by a score of 89-84 in overtime.
Mark Pope's tenure in Lexington has been rather up-and-down, and Kentucky's roster construction struggles this season are well-documented. Kentucky seems like a vulnerable program right now, and DeVries and the Hoosiers could send a clear message with a win over the Wildcats on November 20.
Indiana football battles Washington in Seattle on November 21
One day after the Hoosiers battle the Wildcats on the hardwood, Cignetti will lead his team to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies on Saturday, November 21. It will mark Indiana's first road game at Washington since the Huskies joined the Big Ten a few seasons ago.
Washington's Husky Stadium is one of the premier travel destinations in college football, and the Thanksgiving week matchup gives Hoosier football fans a chance to see one of the most iconic venues in all of college football. The Huskies have a great home field advantage, and Cignetti leading the Hoosiers into what is sure to be a raucous environment will be must-watch television for all Indiana fans.
The Huskies have high hopes of competing for a Big Ten title in Year 3 under Jedd Fisch. The Husky head coach improved from 6-7 in his first season to 9-4 in his second season, and with QB Demond Williams returning, Fisch and company are eyeing a breakthrough campaign.
The Hoosiers and Huskies did not meet this past season. In their most recent matchup, Indiana defeated Washington by a score of 31-17 in Bloomington on October 26, 2024.
