Under Curt Cignetti, the Indiana Hoosiers football program has turned into a national powerhouse.

Cignetti took over the program with the most losses in college football history two years ago, and he hasn't done much losing in Bloomington. Cignetti owns an overall record of 27-2 leading the Hoosiers, and orchestrated the greatest season in IU football history this past season with a historic National Championship.

Along with plenty of team success, individual players are now shining in the spotlight thanks to a record-setting showing in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Hoosiers saw eight players get selected in this year's draft, which is a new program record. The previous record was seven, which was set back in 1976.

Indiana's dominant draft takeover continues to showcase how Cignetti has turned a once-overlooked program into a rock solid pipeline of NFL-ready talent.

Hoosiers turn heads with draft day domination

Not only did Indiana's eight draft selections set a program record, but it put the Hoosiers right in the middle of the biggest NFL Draft classes in college football this season.

Ohio State led the way with 11 draft picks, Alabama and Texas A&M had 10, and Clemson, Miami (FL), and Texas Tech each had nine. After that, IU was tied with Georgia and Penn State with eight draft picks each.

The Hoosiers had more draft picks than several big-name programs, including Notre Dame, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and Michigan, among others.

The Hoosiers' impressive NFL Draft class continues to showcase Indiana's rise to college football dominance.

Cignetti has build the program into a legitimate college football powerhouse, and it hasn't taken long. Furthermore, despite losing an elite group of players to the draft, has the Hoosiers well-positioned for another title run next season.

In the modern era of college football with the transfer portal and NIL, lengthy rebuilds are no longer needed to find success. Cignetti wasted no time turning things around in Bloomington in a major way, while other programs across the country continue to fight for the success Indiana has found over the last two seasons.

The days of IU being overlooked and counted out are no longer. There's no denying that Indiana's draft day domination proves that the Hoosiers are here to stay.
