Wisconsin transfer tight end transfer Riley Nowakowski committed to the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday evening.

The former Badgers tight end Riley Nowakowski will have one season of eligibility left when he arrives in Bloomington next spring.

Nowakowski had 11 catches on 13 targets for 74 yards in 2024 but was used more as a TE2 and blocking tight end in his time at Wisconsin. Nowakowski transferred from Marquette where he played a year before walking on for the Wisconsin Badgers program and playing the past five seasons.

The Milwaukee native started his collegiate career as an outside linebacker for two seasons. In the 2022 season, Nowakowski was moved to fullback and then moved to tight end for the past two seasons.

Indiana will lose starting tight end Zach Horton after the Hoosiers’ College Football Playoff run. He will have zero eligibility left at the end of the 2024 season and back up tight end Trey Walker’s eligibility also runs out.

The Hoosiers will probably return Sam West and James Bomba, who have played 162 snaps between them this season.

Horton could do a little bit of any and everything Cignetti and Shanahan ask of him and Nowakowski will fill that role in the 2024-25 season for the Hoosiers.
