LSU assistant men's basketball coach Yasir Rosemond has departed from LSU just under a month after his contract was approved by the university to join the Oregon program his alma mater — according to a press release Monday.

"“We are really excited to have Yasir back in Eugene,” Oregon head coach Dana Altman said in the release. “His experience in developing student-athletes will be a great addition to our program.” "

The Tigers had just hired Rosemond away from the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball program this offseason, where he’d been an associate head coach since 2022 and a member of the staff since 2021.

Rosemond played two seasons at Oregon from 1997-99 and later returned to the university to earn his degree after playing professionally.

Rosemond, who coached as an associate head coach at Indiana from 2021-2025, has close to 20 years of experience as a collegiate coach.

The Atlanta, Georgia native was an assistant coach at stops including, Alabama from 2017-19, Georgia from 2014-17, Samford from 2012-14, Seattle University from 2010-11 and the Oregon Dukcs from 2007-10.

At Indiana, he helped Indiana on the defensive side of the ball. Rosemond helped land top players like Myles Rice, Jakai Newton and Kanaan Carlyle and even earned a win in 2022 as a head coach.

Indiana and Oregon faced off once in the regular season and again in the Big Ten Tournament during the 2024-25 season. The Ducks won both games, with a 73-64 victory on March 4 in Eugene and defeating the Hoosiers again, 72-59, March 13 in Indianapolis.
