Former Indiana Guard and teams leading scorer transfers to Big Ten foe Maryland

Maryland women’s basketball earns commitment from Indiana guard Yarden Garzon

Indiana transfer and the teams leading scorer from last season, Yarden Garzon has committed to Maryland, sources told Talia Goodman and On3 Sports earlier this morning.

Yarden Garzon played her first three years at Indiana in Bloomington and will now finish her stellar career in College Park, Maryland. With the Hoosiers, she earned an all-conference honorable mention her sophomore year and a second-team Big Ten honors this past season.

During her career, in three seasons, Garzon played in 97 games averaging12.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists. and 1.1 steals.

On her Instagram account, Garzon sent a message to Indiana fans who have supported her during her Indiana career.

On her latest instagram post Garzon wrote simply "New beginnings"

Garzon is the all-time leading 3-point shooter in Indiana women's basketball history doing so in only three seasons. She made 220 3-point shots which is the most of all-time for IU and her 42.6% 3-point percentage is also a program record.

The Israel native was a four-star recruit by Premier Basketball Report in 2022 after playing for Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan and the Israeli senior national team.

Alongside Garzon, Maryland also landed a commitment from Penn State center Gracie Merkle, who Indiana also targeted in the portal.

The Terps went 25-8 overall last season, with a 13-5 confernce record. Indiana will take on Maryland at least twice in the regular season next year.
