Alabama assistant coach Preston Murphy turned down an offer to join Darian DeVries' Indiana Hoosiers staff

According to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 Murphy is choosing to stay with Alabama and Nate Oaks rather than join his former coaching mate Darian DeVries at IU.

As Goodman stated in his post, Murphy is one of the best recruiters in the country and has helped Alabama sign multiple impressive freshman classes as well as land some of the most coveted recruits in the Transfer Portal every offseason.

Under Oats at Alabama is 129-48 (.729) in the the past five seasons. In that span Alabama won four conference titles in the SEC and five consecutive NCAA Tournament berths.

Murphy has made quite an impact in only two seasons at Alabama. Murphy whose new contract extends him through April 30, 2027 at $675,000 per year, making him one of the highest paid assistant coaches in college basketball according to Tuscaloosa News

ESPN and SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum is high on Alabama basketball going forward

“Oh, (the gap) definitely can be closed because, I mean, I mean, it takes, it takes the right players and Alabama had the right players at times this year. They just weren’t consistent enough,” "They can win it all under Nate Oaks he's the right man for the job" Finebaum said, via McElroy & Cubelic in the Morning.
