Indiana's solid week in the transfer portal continues to get better and better.

After signing shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf from Georgia Tech, guard Darren Harris from Duke, and point guard Markus Burton from Notre Dame on Monday, the Hoosiers landed a portal commitment from SMU center Samet Yigitoglu on Tuesday.

Those additions brought national attention to the Hoosiers, but now Darian DeVries is really turning heads with his latest portal addition.

Indiana adds Alabama forward Aiden Sherrell through the transfer portal

On Wednesday afternoon, Jon Rothstein reported that Alabama transfer Aiden Sherrell has committed to Indiana. Sherrell has been linked to Indiana for the past several days and visited Bloomington over the weekend.

Owning a 6'11" 255-pound frame, the Alabama star is ranked as the No. 11 overall player and the No. 5 power forward in the portal by 247Sports. He becomes the highest-ranked player in Indiana's transfer portal class, which is now ranked as the No. 2 portal class in the country.

As one of the top bigs on the market, Sherrell garnered plenty of attention from Power 4 programs across the country in the portal. His move to Bloomington is a massive win for DeVries and the Hoosiers as the 2026-27 roster continues to take shape.

Playing in all 34 games for the Crimson Tide this past season, Sherrell averaged 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 53.9% from the floor. He also shot 71.3% from the free throw line.

Perhaps most importantly, Sherrell is an elite rim protector, as he finished 2nd in the SEC with 2.2 blocks per game. The Hoosiers lacked that presence down low in DeVries' first season, finishing 13th in the Big Ten with 2.7 blocks per game. Sherrell's presence provdes an immediate a substantial upgrade to IU's interior defense.

Furthermore, Sherrell's skill set could be a great complement to fellow transfer Samer Yigitoglu's game. Together, Sherrell and Yigitoglu can form a dynamic duo in IU's front court next season.
