Curt Cignetti sets his sights on another 5-star WR as Indiana's push gains steam

Back in July, Curt Cignetti secured a monumental recruiting win for the Indiana Hoosiers when Lawrence North WR Monshun Sales committed to IU. Sales became the first 5-star commit in Indiana football history, and ultimately chose the Hoosiers over a list of finalists that included Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and LSU. It was a program-changing win for Indiana football recruiting, and continued to show just how far Indiana has come under Cignetti's leadership.

Now, Cignetti has his sights set on another 5-star WR. Braylon Clark is one of the most coveted playmakers in the country, and is currently ranked as the No. 4 WR and No. 10 overall player in the 2028 recruiting class according to Rivals. The Hoosiers are firmly in the mix for his services, and received a positive update from the Clark over the weekend.

Indiana cracks list of 12 finalists for 5-star WR Braylon Clark

Clark has released his list of 12 finalists. Hoosier fans are excited to see the Cream and Crimson still in the hunt. According to Hayes Fawcett, Clark's list of contenders includes Indiana, Ohio State, LSU, Tennessee, Miami (FL), Texas, Alabama, Oregon, Clemson, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and USC.

Owning a 6'3" 195-pound frame, Clark has elite size and athleticism and is projected to be a true WR1 at a Power 4 program. He hails from Charlotte, NC and plays for Providence Day School. He put forth a solid sophomore campaign last fall, as he hauled in 65 catches for 1,093 yards and 12 touchdowns. That followed up a freshman season in which he had 38 catches for 578 yards and 4 touchdowns at Charlotte Day School before transferring to Providence. He's off to a strong start as a junior, as he's collected 15 catches for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns through 3 games.

Looking ahead, Clark has a handful of visits planned for the fall. He was in Baton Rouge during Week 1, and watched LSU destroy Clemson 51-10. He has visits slated for Ohio State on November 7, Oregon for November 14, and Ohio State again on November 28. The next priority for Cignetti and company is to get an Official Visit to Bloomington on the docket for Clark.

Indiana searching for first 2028 WR commit

Because he is in the 2028 recruiting cycle, it may be a while before Clark announces any kind of commitment decision. He will likely spend the next few months visiting his contending schools while playing his junior season at Providence Day. From there, he will trim his list of contenders down, and hopefully, Indiana remains in the mix.

Indiana has just one commit in its 2028 class, which comes in the form of 4-star QB Lukas Prock. When looking at the 2027 class, Indiana has received commitments from a trio of WRs: 5-star Monshun Sales, 4-star Branden Sharpe, and 3-star Jordan Carrasquillo.

Cignetti has built up plenty of momentum on the recruiting trial over the last few months. Indiana's 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 29 in the country by Rivals, which gives Cignetti back-to-back Top-30 recruiting classes. He is undoubtedly looking to keep things rolling, and getting a visit from Clark scheduled would be a great way to make that happen.
