The month of June is a massive time when it comes to college football recruiting. Top players across the country spend their weekends on Official Visits figuring out where they want to end up. Commitment announcements are coming left and right, and Curt Cignetti has Indiana's 2027 recruiting class in great shape.
Cignetti's latest recruiting heater saw him land commitments from four prospects over the weekend. The headliner was 4-star LB Jalaythan Mayfield, who committed to Indiana on June 19 over finalists Georgia and Miami (FL). Cignetti also landed his first flip of the 2027 class in the form of 3-star LB Cain Brackney, who flipped from UCLA to Indiana.
Along with bringing in 3-star CB Ramir Harris-Dupree and 3-star IOL Caleb Pugh, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class now features a total of 16 players. The class is rounding into form, and continues to hold steady in the national recruiting rankings.
Indiana holding steady in national recruiting rankings
As it stands, Indiana currently boasts the No. 31 recruiting class in the country for the 2027 cycle according to Rivals/On3. The Hoosiers have been holding steady around the 30-35 mark in the rankings over the last few weeks, and while there is still work to do, the Hoosiers are in a good spot.
Indiana's recruiting rankings over the last four seasons included spots No. 59, 60, 53, and 30 in the nation. Given the success Cignetti has already seen on the recruiting trail this offseason, Indiana's 2027 class is well-positioned to beat those numbers.
Cignetti aiming to keep the momentum rolling
Cignetti's busy weekend brings IU some fresh momentum. That momentum could be huge as the Hoosiers look to seal the deal with several other top prosepcts, including 5-star WR Monshun Sales. Hailing from Lawrence North High school in Indianapolis, Sales is ranked as the No. 1 WR and No. 8 overall player in the country for the 2027 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Sales is regarded as one of the most coveted recruits in the country, and Indiana is among his list of finalists. Bringing in Sales to an already talent-rich recruiting class would undoubtedly do wonders for Indiana's recruiting ranking.
But no matter what happens with Sales, Hoosier fans have plenty of confidence in the future of the IU football program with Cignetti at the helm. As Cignetti looks to bring in more talent, here is an updated look at Indiana's 2027 recruiting class following his strong week:
