The Indiana Hoosiers moved to 6-0 on the season with a dramatic 20-17 win at Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't always pretty, as the Hoosiers were thoroughly out-played for the first three quarters of the game. But when it mattered most, Indiana was able to dig deep and make the necessary plays to come out on top.
The win extends Indiana's current winning streak to 22 games, and pushes Curt Cignetti's record at Indiana to an eye-popping 33-2. After leading the IU football program to the greatest turnaround in college sports history, Cignetti made even more history in Indiana's Week 6 win over Nebraska.
Indiana's epic comeback gives Curt Cignetti another historic milestone
Indiana trailed Nebraska by a score of 17-6 early on in the 4th quarter. According to ESPN Insights, Indiana was previously 1-120 when trailing by double-digits in the 4th quarter since 2004. But two huge plays from Nick Marsh and strong defensive stops down the stretch paved the way for a momentous comeback victory.
Furthermore, the Hoosiers became the first team to extend a win streak to 20+ games by overcoming a double-digit 4th-quarter deficit since Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl. Anytime you are being compared to that historic Texas team, you are doing something right as a program. That's the new world of Indiana football under Cignetti's leadership.

The Cream and Crimson made the Hoosier faithful sweat more than they probably would have liked, but in the end, Indiana showed why it is a National Championship-winning team.
Before the game, Cignetti stated in his pregame interview with FOX's Jenny Taft that the Hoosiers needed to make the winning plays when it mattered. That's exactly what they did, while Nebraska failed to put the game on ice despite having several opportunities to do so. Cignetti has already made plenty of history in Bloomington, and this victory just adds to his overwhelming success.
A huge matchup against Ohio State is up next
After escaping Lincoln with a win, a huge matchup against Ohio State is on the docket for next week. The Hoosiers and Buckeyes have built up quite the rivalry over the last few seasons. They are the last two reigning National Champions, and have put on some epic battles since Cignetti came to Indiana.
Indiana's loss to Ohio State in Columbus back in 2024 remains Cignetti's only Big Ten loss at the helm of the Hoosier program. He is now an impressive 21-1 in conference games, which includes Indiana's 13-10 victory over Ohio State in last December's Big Ten Championship Game. That game has the Buckeyes looking for revenge next weekend in Bloomington.
Kick-off between the Hoosiers and Buckeyes is set for Noon ET. It will be a Top-10 matchup, as Indiana is currently ranked No. 7 in the country while Ohio State sits at No. 5. Get your popcorn ready!
