It's a big week for Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers football program.

Spring practice is wrapping up with the annual spring game on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium. Simultaneously, the 2026 NFL Draft will commence with Hoosier QB Fernando Mendoza widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders. Led by Mendoza, Indiana's draft class has the potential to break records as Hoosiers should hear their names called all throughout the draft process.

As if business wasn't already booming in Bloomington this week, Indiana is now set to host the No. 1 prospect in the 2027 recruiting class over the weekend.

5-star DL and top 2027 prospect Jalen Brewster to visit Indiana

On Wednesday, On3 reported that Jalen Brewster will visit Cignetti and the Hoosiers this weekend. Hailing from Cedar Hill, TX, Brewster is a 5-star defensive line prospect who is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Brewster has been committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders since last October, but an offensive line coaching change in Lubbock has Brewster continuing to evaluate all of his options. Hoosier fans are excited to see the cream and crimson still in the mix.

Luring Jalen Brewster away from Texas Tech would be a blockbuster flip for Curt Cignetti

Cignetti and the Hoosiers have been in pursuit of Brewster for quite some time. The 6'3" 302-pound defensive lineman was on campus several times last year, including on September 20 when Indiana routed Illinois 63-10.

Brewster plays high school football in Texas, but is originally from Indianapolis. Cignetti and company will undoubtedly try to use those ties to The Hoosier State to their advantage.

Luring Brewster away from Texas Tech and landing him in Bloomington would be a huge blockbuster flip for Cignetti and the Hoosiers. As it stands, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class features four players and zero defensive line recruits. The class is ranked No. 46 in the country by 247Sports, but that would surely change if Brewster flips.
