Curt Cignetti, Indiana pulling out all the stops to land 5-star WR Monshun Sales

Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers are on the verge of history. Indiana has never secured a 5-star high school recruit in program history, but that could change this week.

5-star WR Monshun Sales, who is ranked as the No. 2 WR and No. 7 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class by Rivals, is slated to make his highly-anticipated commitment decision on Friday, July 17. Sales plays for Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, and the hometown Hoosiers have been at the forefront of his commitment for quite some time.

But Cignetti knows that landing a commitment from a player of Sales' caliber won't come easy. Throughout the course of Sales' recruitment, Cignetti and his staff have pulled out all the stops in an effort to bring the in-state product to Bloomington. Heading into Friday's decision day, it's clear that those efforts aren't going unnoticed.

Indiana going all-in for 5-star WR Monshun Sales

College football fans have been following Sales' recruitment process since the beginning. Indiana has been in the mix from Day 1, and On3/Rivals Vice President Steve Wiltfong has taken notice of Indiana's efforts in the Sales Sweepstakes.

"I've never seen Curt Cignetti and this coaching staff be as aggressive as they have been for a high school prospect, showing how much they value Monshun Sales," Wiltfong said on the Wiltfong Whiparound this week. "They've poured a lot into this recruitment from a relationship standpoint...and have gotten him to campus several times. He was at the National Championship ceremony, and he took his Official Visit in April and I believe that was the most fun he's had on an Official Visit out of all the trips he's taken."

Sales is the kind of players you go all-in for. Indiana has the most winning momentum in all of college football, and that has turned into being on the radar of the nation's top recruits. Sales is right in Indiana's backyard, and securing a commitment from a player of his caliber would be an overwhelmingly impressive recruiting win for Cignetti and the Hoosiers.

In the end, Wiltfong believes Indiana's relentless pursuit of Sales will pay off. "The investment that Indiana has made in this recruitment, I still think they're in prime position," says Wiltfong.

Monshun Sales nearing commitment announcement

Sales' highly-anticipated commitment decision is less than two days away. The 5-star product will announce his college plans on Friday at Noon live on The Pat McAfee Show.

Along with Indiana, Sales will be deciding between Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and LSU. Hoosier fans are feeling good about their chances, as the Rivals Industry Consensus currently gives the Hoosiers a strong 81.7% chance to land a commitment from Sales.

Cignetti and company have gone all-in, and now all they can do is wait. Currently owning the No. 29 recruiting class in the country for the 2027 cycle, adding Sales to the mix would undoubtedly move the Hoosiers up in those rankings. Hoosier football fans hoping to see it happen.
