Curt Cignetti has turned the perspective around when it comes to Indiana football recruiting. In the past, the Hoosiers were an afterthought when it came to landing commitments from blue-chip prospects. But Cignetti's instant success in Bloomington and National Championship-winning season has Indiana in the hunt to land several 5-star recruits in future recruiting classes.

In fact, it wouldn't be surprising to see Cignetti ink Indiana's highest-ranked recruiting class for 2027 when it is all said and done.

One big step in that process is landing a commitment from 5-star WR Monshun Sales, who hails from right up the road at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. Sales is ranked as the No. 1 WR and the No. 7 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class by the 247Sports Composite, and Indiana is firmly in the mix to land his services.

Sales is visiting the Hoosiers today, and took to social media on Wednesday night to express his excitement ahead of his visit to Bloomington.

Sales' Indiana roots have him high on Cignetti's list. The 6'5" 195-pound wideout took a pair of unofficial visits to Indiana on November 15 and January 24, and is also slated for an official visit later this month on April 24.

While the Hoosiers are still in the race, recruiting industry experts have Cignetti and Indiana facing an uphill battle. In December, Rivals' Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith logged expert predictions for the Alabama Crimson Tide to win Sales' recruiting sweepstakes. Thus, his visit to IU on Thursday carries plenty of weight. Hoosier fans are hoping that Cignetti and his staff make a lasting impression.

Along with Indiana and Alabama, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Miami Hurricanes are also firmly in the race. Later this spring, Sales will visit Alabama on May 29, Ohio State on June 12, and Miami (FL) on June 19.

As it stands, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class features four commits: 4-star CB Monsanna Torbet Jr, 3-star QB Jameson Purcell, 3-star S Garyon Hobbs, and 3-star OT Jeremiah Jones. The class is currently ranked No. 30 in the country by 247Sports, but adding Sales to the mix would surely boost IU's ranking significantly.
