Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers are set for a pivotal month of recruiting in April. Cignetti and his staff continue to build IU's 2027 recruiting class, which currently features four players following the decommitment of 4-star WR Ja'Hyde Brown. Despite losing Brown, Cignetti's historic turnaround in Bloomington gives Indiana a chance to land its best recruiting class in program history in 2027.

The Hoosiers are set to host a plethora of top prospects throughout the month of April, setting the stage for Cignetti to continue building IU's 2027 class. Among the visits on the docket includes a visit from 4-star LB Jalaythan Mayfield, who will announce his commitment decision on July 17.

Jalaythan Mayfield's visit to Indiana could make or break his recruitment
Mayfield is heralded as one of the top linebackers in the country for the 2027 recruiting class. He is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 18 linebacker in the country and the No. 8 overall player in the state of North Carolina. Nationally, he is ranked as the No. 207 player in the class.
His list of offers exceeds 25 schools, but just five are still in the running to land his services. According to Rivals, Mayfield is deciding between Indiana, Miami (FL), Oregon, Kentucky, and Georgia.
The Lincolnton, NC native is set to visit all schools in his final-five this spring. His visit schedule begins with a trip to Bloomington the weekend of April 17, and Hoosier fans are hoping Cignetti and his staff make a lasting impression. Following his IU visit, Mayfield will then head to Miami (FL) on May 29, Oregon on June 5, Georgia on June 12, and Kentucky on June 19.
Indiana's 2027 class currently features 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr, 3-star QB Jameson Purcell, 3-star S Garyon Hobbs, and 3-star OT Jeremiah Jones. Adding Mayfield to that mix would be a great win for Cignetti and the Hoosiers.
