Indiana basketball fans are tired of missing out on March Madness. The Hoosiers have now failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament in eight of the last 10 years, including the last three years in a row.
Year 1 of the Darian DeVries era ended in disappointment, as the Hoosiers went 1-6 down the stretch and went one-and-done with a loss to 15th-seeded Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament to doom their March Madness hopes.

To make matters worse, Hoosier fans have to sit back and watch other Big Ten teams show out in the big dance.
Six Big Ten teams advance to the Sweet Sixteen
The Sweet Sixteen field is set, and the Big Ten is well-represented. After earning nine bids to the NCAA Tournament, a total of six Big Ten teams have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. That gives the Big Ten the most Sweet Sixteen teams among any conference, with the SEC coming in 2nd with four teams in the Sweet Sixteen.

The Big Ten owns an impressive 13-3 record in the tournament, which is good for a win percentage of .813. Furthermore, it's the best win percentage of any conference in the big dance. Big Ten teams went 6-1 in the Round of 32, with UCLA's loss to UConn being the lone blemish for the conference in the second round.
Big Ten's March Madness success puts even more pressure on Darian DeVries in Year 2
DeVries ended his first season in Bloomington with an overall record of 18-14 that included a 9-11 mark in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers were on the NCAA Tournament bubble in the final weeks of the season, but couldn't take advantage of their opportunities to show the selection committee they were worthy of a tournament bid.
After such a disappointing first season at the helm of the Hoosier program, the pressure will only continue to build for DeVries in Year 2. IU fans are hungrier than ever to taste March Madness success once again, and while he's been in Bloomington for just one season, it hasn't taken other Big Ten coaches long to win in March.
Ben McCollum is his first season at Iowa, and he has led the Hawkeyes to their first Sweet Sixteen appearance since 1999. Year 2 of the Dusty May era in Ann Arbor has the Wolverines as a No. 1 seed and the current favorites to win the National Championship. Fred Hoiberg led Nebraska to its first-ever NCAA Tournament win and has the Huskers in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time ever.
With IU sitting on the sidelines once again, the Big Ten's success in the NCAA Tournament isn't doing DeVries any favors. It goes without saying that the Hoosiers need to put together a much-improved season in 2026-27.
