As expected Tucker DeVries granted extra year of eligibility for senior season at Indiana

First-year coach Darian DeVries will have his son Tucker under his roster for one more season as he's granted fifth year.

West Virginia transfer forward Tucker DeVries has been granted a medical hardship waiver to play a fifth season for Indiana in 2025-26.

The son of Indiana coach Darian DeVries, Tucker DeVries followed his father to Bloomington for his final season of eligibility.

DeVries only played in eight games as a West Virginia Mountaineer this season, averaging 14.9 points per game, and 4.9 rebounds per game, as he dealt with a shoulder injury which required off-season surgery.

Previously DeVries played three seasons at Drake University were he was a two-time Missouri Valley Player of The Year and was averaged 14.9 points, 1.8 steals,1.5 blocks. and 4.9 rebounds. He's also a 37 percent career 3-point shooter from behind the arc.

"For the most part, we are getting closer, we are awaiting final clearance for the full contact," Darian DeVries told Yahoo Sports "He's able to do all the shooting drill work, lifting that's modified a little bit, I think by the time we get rolling here next week he should be fully cleared for full contact."

For his career, DeVries has averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals in a total of 112 games played and 105 starts. DeVries is a career 36.7 % percent shooter from three point range, 43.5 percent from the field and 81.3 percent at the free throw line.

The Indiana Hoosiers did not include Luke Goode or Anthony Leal on their 2025-26 roster released Monday as the are projected to not be cleared by the NCAA for waivers.

The Indiana men’s basketball program will travel to Puerto Rico for an exhibition tour that includes three games from August 6–11 in the capital city of San Juan, including a game against a Puerto Rican All-Star team to open the tour.

IU will take on Mega Superbet, a professional club based out of Belgrade, Serbia and the Puerto Rican national team.
