Year 2 of Darian DeVries' tenure at the helm of the Indiana basketball program is quickly approaching. The new-look Hoosiers already have one exhibition game under their belts, and are currently in Peru representing Team USA and participating in the FISU America Games. After an underwhelming first season in Bloomington that resulted in missing the NCAA Tournament, DeVries needs to orchestrate a better campaign in 2026-27. Hoosier basketball fans are hungrier than ever for a March Madness run, and are desperate to see the Cream and Crimson return to glory.
With a re-tooled roster that features just one returning player, experienced high-major talent through the transfer portal, and a promising incoming recruiting class, DeVries is hoping his offseason roster moves pay off in the best way possible.
Indiana Basketball 2026-27 schedule
Much of Indiana's 2026-27 schedule is coming together. Of Indiana's 32 games in the upcoming season, 27 opponents are known.
The schedule features a tough non-conference slate and a favorable Big Ten schedule that presents great opportunity. Here is the latest breakdown of Indiana's 2026-27 schedule on the hardwood.
International tour and exhibitions
As previously mentioned, Indiana has already taken the floor in an exhibition game this summer. The Hoosiers took down Canada's Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf by a score of 98-64 on July 15 at Assembly Hall.

The Hoosiers are now in Peru participating in the FISU America Games. Indiana is representing Team USA, and will face Argentina, Peru, and Brazil in pool play. The two-week trip figures to be a great team-building event and give the Hoosiers a chance to build as much chemistry both on and off the floor as possible. When Indiana returns stateside, several more exhibition games are on the schedule.

- October 18: vs. North Carolina (Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis)
- October 25: vs. Evansville (Ford Center in Evansville)
Non-conference schedule
Indiana's non-conference slate is rounding into form. The Hoosiers are set to face four high major programs, as matchups against Syracuse, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Missouri are all on the docket. With those programs in the mix, Indiana's non-conference schedule is respectable and gives the Hoosiers several opportunities to turn heads before conference play begins.

Big Ten matchups
Official dates for the Big Ten schedule have not been released. However, we do know which teams Indiana will face and where those games will take place. Here is a look at who the Hoosiers are set to face in conference play this season:
Home only:Â Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Rutgers, UCLA, and USC
Away only:Â Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Washington, and Wisconsin
Home and Away:Â Maryland, Northwestern, and Purdue
Generally speaking, Indiana's Big Ten slate is fairly manageable. Getting Illinois, Michigan, and Michigan State at home is extremely clutch, and IU's trio of home and away opponents consisting of Maryland, Northwestern, and Purdue puts the Hoosiers in great shape to make some noise.
After going 9-11 in Big Ten play last season, Indiana was the No. 10 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. Improving on that record and seeding will be vital for DeVries and he looks to get the Hoosiers back to the NCAA Tournament.
