With Fernando Mendoza, Elijah Sarratt, and Omar Cooper Jr. headed to the NFL, the Indiana passing attack is going to look a lot different in 2026. Mendoza took the college football world by storm en route to winning the Heisman Trophy, while Sarratt and Cooper Jr. made up one of the most dynamic receiving duos in the country.

Everything Indiana football fans need to know about IU's spring practice schedule

Curt Cignetti utilized the transfer portal to reconstruct the Hoosier offense, and IU fans are excited to see what the new-look scoring attack can cook up this season.

Two of the biggest names Cignetti brought in through the portal are former TCU quarterback Josh Hoover and former Michigan State wide receiver Nick Marsh. That combination has the potential to put together elite results in 2026.

Josh Hoover and Nick Marsh have elite potential for Indiana in 2026

Hoover comes to Bloomington after spending four seasons with TCU. He is among the most experienced quarterbacks in the country, which is a trait Cignetti loves in his quarterbacks.

With the Horned Frogs, Hoover appeared in 36 games and made 31 consecutive starts from 2023-25. In his career, the 6'2" 200-pound gunslinger has thrown for 9,629 yards and amassed 79 total touchdowns. That gives him the most production out of any returning QB in the country heading into 2026. Replacing Mendoza's production is a near impossible task, but Hoover could be the ideal fit to lead Cignetti's offense.

Marsh comes to Bloomington after two seasons in East Lansing with Michigan State. Last season, he led the Spartans in catches (59), receiving yards (662), and receiving touchdowns (6). With Sarratt and Cooper Jr. gone, Marsh could have an opportunity to be Indiana's WR1 in 2026.

Hoover and Marsh spent the first day of spring practice getting acquainted with one another:

Nick Marsh shows off elite hands in IU's first spring practice session

Marsh's career at Indiana is off to an interesting start. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Cignetti talked about how Marsh took the field at Indiana's first spring practice session wearing gold cleats and how he immediately chewed him out to set him straight. It wasn't the first impression Marsh was hoping for, but he responded in a big way.

The 6'3" 203-pound wideout put together a strong first practice session with his new team, which included a highlight-reel one-handed catch from Hoover.

After watching Mendoza form elite connections with Sarratt and cooper Jr, IU fans are excited to watch Hoover and Marsh develop together in Bloomington.

Indiana's spring practice block runs through the annual spring game on April 23. The Hoosiers open the new regular season on Saturday, September 5 against North Texas.
