Over the offseason, former Indiana Hoosier Kyle Schwarber inked a 5 year, $150 million contract to stay with the Philadelphia Phillies. The early returns on that deal are impressive, as Schwarber continues to put on a show. He is in the midst of an eye-popping season, and the history just keeps coming.
Schwarber is at or near the top of the MLB rankings when it comes to several major statistical categories. Most notably, Schwarber's 30 home runs on the season are the most in baseball. He also ranks 4th in MLB with an OPS of .943, and leads the entire National League with a slugging percentage of .570.
No matter how you slice it, Schwarber is putting together a special season in the City of Brotherly Love. With the 2026 All-Star Game quickly approaching, being featured on the National League roster is a well-deserved recognition for Schwarber.

Former Hoosier Kyle Schwarber receives All-Star nod in home stadium
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is right around the corner. The game will take place on Tuesday, July 14, and Schwarber has a unique home field advantage for the highly-anticipated contest.
The game will take place at Citizen Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The setting bodes well for Schwarber, as he boasts a .270 batting average to go along with a whopping .663 slugging percentage and 1.044 OPS when hitting at home so far this season. He's also blasted 19 of his 30 home runs at Citizens Bank Park.
Those numbers at home are better than his numbers on the road, as he sports a .242 batting average, .478 slugging percentage, and .838 OPS on the road. Those are still solid figures, but considering how well he hits at home, Schwarber could be in a solid position to deliver some fireworks during his All-Star at-bats next week.
Kyle Schwarber bests Shohei Ohtani in player voting for DH
Given Schwarber's elite power numbers this season, it's not surprising to see him land on the NL's All-Star team roster. Him not being featured would have been absurd.
However, what is surprising about Schwarber's All-Star nod is that he received more player votes for DH than Shohei Ohtani.

When getting more votes than the best player in the sport and the most popular player on the planet, it's clear you are putting together a special campaign. But to receive that recognition from fellow players makes it even more impressive and shows just how highly-regarded Schwarber is among MLB players.
After collecting a career-high 56 home runs last season, Schwarber is on pace to post an even higher home run total this season. He is pushing for the 60-homer mark, as well as 400 total home runs in his MLB career. He currently has 370 long balls to his name, putting him just 30 away from becoming the 60th player in MLB history to join the 400 home run club. With the way he is seeing the ball this season, reaching 60 home runs on the season and 400 in his career is well within the realm of possibility for Schwarber.
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will begin at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 14. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
