Indiana's 2027 recruiting class is essentially set. Curt Cignetti has landed verbal commitments from 16 total players, and that group of commits has Indiana's 2027 class is ranked as the No. 29 recruiting class in the country according to Rivals. With Official Visit season wrapped up, there are only a small group of players left uncommitted in the 2027 cycle.
With that being said, one big name is still on the board. 5-star WR Monshun Sales. Hailing from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Sales is ranked as the No. 1 WR and No. 8 overall player in the country for the 2027 recruiting class by Rivals. He is also the top player in the state of Indiana, and Cignetti and company have been highly-involved in his recruitment since the very beginning.
Sales has conducted all of his Official Visits, and now his list of finalists is down to Indiana, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and LSU. He has now reached the decision-making process, and Hoosier football fans are waiting with bated breath to see what he decides. According to one industry insider, a commitment decision from Sales could be coming sooner rather than later.
5-star Indiana target Monshun Sales could make a commitment announcement soon
According to Rivals recruiting insider Greg Smith, Sales is closing in on making a decision. Smith reports that an official commitment decision from Sales could be coming as soon as mid-July. That means that IU fans may not have to wait much longer to find out if the Cream and Crimson will land their first-ever 5-star high school recruit in program history.
While Sales is considering as many as five schools, at this point in time it appears to be a two-team race between Indiana and Ohio State. Both the Hoosiers and Buckeyes have made serious pushes for the coveted prospect this spring, and Sales has shown both programs plenty of love on social media in recent months. However, competitors such as Texas, Alabama, and LSU cannot be counted out just yet.

The competition is fierce, but Hoosier fans should be feeling good about their chances of landing the in-state product. As it stands, Rivals Industry Consensus gives Indiana a solid 81.7% chance to secure a verbal commitment from Sales. Conversely, Rivals is giving Ohio State just a 4.0% chance to win over the 5-star recruit.
If Cignetti is able to seal the deal and beat out Ryan Day and the Buckeyes for Sales' services, it will be yet another historic achievement for Cignetti's tenure in Bloomington. Getting Sales to IU would bring Indiana directly to the forefront of college football recruiting. Cignetti has Indiana's high school recruiting efforts moving in the right direction, but landing a player of Sales' caliber would undoubtedly be a massive win.
Indiana's 2027 class currently features a pair of wide receivers in the form of 4-star Branden Sharpe and 3-star Jordan Carrasquillo. Sharpe was originally rated as a 3-star recruit, but the Brownsburg native earned a 4th star from 247Sports. Adding Sales to the mix would simply be incredible.
