Former Sam Houston guard Lamar Wilkerson was rated as a 4-star transfer by 247Sports and was one of the highest-ranked names in the transfer portal. Wilkerson had narrowed his choices of schools down to Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Indiana. Just over 24 hours ago, he then cut the list down to Kentucky and Indiana and has finally made his decision.
After much anticipated and a lot of speculation, Wilkerson has officially committed to Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers for his final season of eligibility. This is a huge pickup for DeVries and the Hoosiers, as the guard averaged 20.5 points per game last season and shot almost 45% from 3-point range.

HUGE pickup for Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers.
The 6-5 Wilkerson has size and is an elite shooter. Averaged 20.5 points and shot 45 percent from 3.
Lamar Wilkerson chooses Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers over Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats
DeVries might have just landed his biggest transfer so far this offseason, with Wilkerson committing to the Hoosiers. Most experts had Wilkerson definitely choosing Kentucky over Indiana and the people who have a little too much time on social media thought that because Wilkerson followed some Kentucky players on social media meant he was going to be a Wildcat.
Instead, Wilkerson threw everyone for a loop and chose the Hoosiers over the Wildcats, becoming the fourth player to commit to the Hoosiers since DeVries was hired. Wilkerson will join Tucker DeVries, Conor Enright, and Reed Bailey as a Hoosiers and now hopefully more will follow.
While Wilkerson's shooting ability is something to admire, his size and ability to find the ball at all costs is something that will certainly help the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-5 senior guard averaged 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists in his final season with the Bearkats as well.
DeVries has a history of high-powered offenses both at Drake and in his one season at West Virginia. Wilkerson will certainly fit into what DeVries likes to do with his offense and can also take pressure off Tucker DeVries on the court, who will be coming back from a shoulder injury in the 2024-2025 season.
This marks another commitment for DeVries; now it is time to catch a few more fishes on the line and build a full roster with Wilkerson leading the charge.
