After reeling off five straight victories to begin the season, the Indiana Hoosiers enter Week 6 against Nebraska with plenty of confidence. But the Cornhuskers are also undefeated and looking to make a serious statement on their home turf.
Going on the road and getting a win at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln is never easy, so there's no denying that the Hoosiers are facing their toughest challenge of the season so far. Here are three bold predictions for Saturday's matchup that will make or break Indiana's chances at finding the win column.
Indiana breaks 2+ runs of 40+ yards
The Hoosiers boast one of the best running games in all of college football. Indiana is averaging a strong 6.4 yards per carry, and both Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. have shined. Together, they are the top-two leading rushers in the Big Ten. Richard is leading the way with 587 yards on the ground, while Beebe isn't far behind with 520 yards of his own. The Hoosiers have leaned on the running game early and often this season, and that shouldn't change in this one.

If Indiana is going to earn a tough road win, finding some explosive plays on the ground will be key. Richard's longest run of the season came last week against Rutgers with a 57-yarder, while Beebe ripped off a 70-yard run against Northwestern. Nebraska's rushing defense has been strong, but it hasn't faced a rushing attack like this. Whether it's Richard or Beebe (or both), finding long runs will be a point of emphasis in this matchup.
Indiana sacks Anthony Colandrea 3+ times
Keeping Nebraska QB Anthony Colandrea contained in the pocket figures to be a big point of emphasis for the Hoosier defense on Saturday afternoon. Colandrea is a capable passer who has completed 65.7% of his passes for 1,142 yards with 13 touchdowns and just two interceptions, but he is also a threat with his legs. Through five games, Colandrea has also rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Getting pressure on him and limiting his mobility will be key.
Colandrea has been sacked just four times through five games. But Nebraska's offensive line has a lot to worry about with Indiana's vaunted defensive front. The Hoosiers boast plenty of talent and experience up front, and defensive coordinator Bryant Haines is among the best defensive minds in all of college football. He should have a solid game plan in place for getting Colandrea to the ground.
It's also worth noting that getting CB AJ Harris is huge for the Indiana secondary. His return gives the IU secondary a big boost, which could lead to Colandrea holding onto the ball in the pocket just long enough for the pressure to get there.
Josh Hoover's interception-less streak comes to an end
When Josh Hoover first transferred to Indiana, a lot of fuss was made about his interceptions. Hoover threw 33 interceptions at TCU from 2023-25, which included a Big 12-high 13 picks last season. But so far at Indiana, Hoover has thrown 15 touchdown passes without a single interception on 107 pass attempts. Protecting the ball and playing complimentary football has been Indiana's specialty, which will be a big point of emphasis once again against Nebraska.
With that being said, this will be Hoover's first tough road test at Indiana. With all do respect to Rutgers, SHI Stadium wasn't exactly rocking last week. Memorial Stadium in Lincoln will be rocking. Hoover has still struggled with accuracy this season, and this will be the toughest defense he's seen so far. Plus, it will be interesting to see how he handles the atmosphere. The Cornhuskers have forced six interceptions through five games, and there's a chance they snap Hoover's streak of zero-interception games.
