1. Clifford Omoruyi – Junior Forward – #11

2022-23 stats: 7 GP, 30.7 MIN, 16.7 PPG, 9.9 REB, 1.7 BLK, 2.0 PF, 52.7 FG%, 51.4 FT%

Cliff Omoruyi looks like a completely different player this season, adding a lot of offense to his game, along with continuing to improve his defensive abilities and utilizing his length and strength to his advantage.

In the Scarlet Knights’ win against the Hoosiers last season, Omoruyi posted 13 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks in 36 minutes of action in Assembly Hall. Though Ron Harper Jr. was the standout of the game, Omoruyi probably had the largest impact on the floor. His biggest impact was his defensive effort against Trayce Jackson-Davis, holding him to just 19 points and nine rebounds, which isn’t terrible, but he took just 11 shots and only managed to block one.

Last season, Omoruyi had just one game with 20 points and zero 20-point and 10-rebound games. This season, already, the junior big man has three 20-point performances and all three of those games have been 20-point and 10-rebound games. That’s a big improvement.

Look out for Omoruyi to carry on the Scarlet Knights’ five-game winning streak against the Hoosiers on Saturday, and improve Rutgers to 6-0 on the year at home.
