2. Caleb McConnell – Senior Guard – #22

2022-23 stats: 2 GP, 30.0 MIN, 10.0 PPG, 5.0 REB, 3.5 AST, 1.0 STL, 1.5 TOV, 47.1 FG%, 33.3 3P%

The reigning 2021-22 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year missed the first five games of the season while recovering from a knee injury he suffered back in October.

Nevertheless, McConnell returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday against Miami (FL), and although he’s still knocking off the dust from his injury, he looked like he improved his offensive game in an effort to be more of a two-way player. McConnell provided 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the Scarlet Knights’ losing effort.

McConnell has played seven career games against the Hoosiers and holds a record of 6-1 (.857) in those games. Though he has struggled in his last four games against Indiana, averaging just 5.3 points, the senior guard can make his presence felt on the defensive side of the floor and that could be enough for Rutgers to pull away from the Hoosiers with a home win.
