Indiana Basketball target Mason Miller is going to Creighton

For the second time in the past month, the Hoosiers have lost a recruiting battle. Trey Kaufman elected to play for Purdue at the beginning of November, and now Mason Miller has chosen to go to Creighton.

Miller’s recruitment moved at the speed of light. Indiana and Creighton had both been rumored to be his first two choices, which Miller confirmed last week when he declared those schools the final two on his list. Miller also surprisingly announced he would be making his decision within the next week.

Things were kept under wraps pretty well in the days leading up to Miller’s commitment, but on Sunday the 247Sports Crystal Ball picks began to pile up for Creighton. It is hard to argue Miller’s decision given his similar skillset and body to former Creighton star Doug McDermott. The Bluejays will likely utilize their new recruit’s talent extremely well.

For Indiana, the hopes of the 2021 class hinge upon the impending decision for top-15 guard Aminu Mohammed. Very little is known about Mohammed’s interest, but he is going to make a decision before the end of 2020.

The 2021 recruiting class was supposed to be a gargantuan win for Archie Miller. It is one of the best classes in the history of the state of Indiana, but Miller has not won over a single recruit from the Hoosier state on paper (remember, of course, that Khristian Lander reclassified to the class of 2020).

This has been the worst run of bad recruiting luck since Miller got the job in Bloomington. What was once considered to be his potential breakout class now has the potential to be his biggest disaster. With Trayce Jackson-Davis likely set to leave for the NBA after this season, Miller must find a somewhat adequate replacement for his talent in the frontcourt. As of this moment, things are not looking good for the Hoosiers next season.
