Indiana @ Rutgers

There isn’t a ton to say about Rutgers. They were 0-9 in the conference last season and 2-10 overall. The two victories came against Massachusetts and Liberty University. Big Ten teams don’t exactly look at the schedule with fear and trembling when they see the name “Rutgers.”

However, their former coach, Chris Ash –who went a ghastly 8-32 in four seasons at the helm in New Brunswick — is now gone. Greg Schiano is once again the coach for Rutgers, and he helped the program find success in the past. For that reason alone, the Scarlet Knights cannot be totally discounted.

However, the Rutgers job is likely one that will require a great deal of patience from Schiano. They simply aren’t that talented and he will have to build the program up over a number of years.

On top of that, Indiana completely shut them out last season, winning 35-0. Indiana allowed the sixth-most points in the Big Ten last season and Rutgers still couldn’t crack the endzone. That shutout was somehow one of four others. The Scarlet Knights failed to score any points against Michigan State, Michigan, and Iowa as well.

Even though they have somewhat competent leadership back in charge, this should be an easy win.

Prediction: Indiana 28, Rutgers 14
