Indiana Football: 3 players most affected by canceled 2020 season

Whop Philyor

Whop Philyor burst onto the scene last year with his huge game against Michigan State. He continued that with double-digit catch games against Nebraska and Rutgers. He was in the top 50 of receptions and receiving yards in the country last year.

He has already made a name for himself and will get drafted. The question is how early will his name be called? He could easily be in the top five rounds, but with another great season, he could be even higher.

Could he even reach the first round? It would take a great season but it is not impossible. With the number of receivers that went in the first round this year, it could start a trend of getting receivers earlier in the draft.

Philyor could have gone to the draft after his superb Junior year, but he came back to get his degree and to try and push Indiana up the Big Ten rankings. He also could use the year to improve his draft stock.

He was a relative unknown until last year on the national stage and having another great year would just push his name up the boards. He needed to show he wasn’t just a one year flash in the pan.

If they play in the spring he could still have that opportunity, but with it being so close to the draft and the prospect of playing two football seasons in a short amount of time might be too much for him. No one would look down on Philyor if he opted-out of a spring season and it wouldn’t be the worst decision.

Philyor was looking at being the best receiver in the Big Ten and putting a stamp on his IU career, but now it looks like he will never get the chance.
