2. Texas

The Longhorns flirted with coming over to the Big Ten as there has been some unrest in the Big 12 as of late. The rest of the Big 12 think that Texas is out on their own when they started the Longhorn network and don’t care about the rest of the conference.

Because of this the Big 12 has seemed to be a conference on the edge of imploding. They already lost Nebraska to the Big Ten and Colorado to the Pac 12. If they were to lose Texas it could mean the starting of the end for the conference.

Texas is a cash cow with a huge fan base and would be great for the Big Ten to poach. It would extend the geographical reach of the Big Ten into a recruiting hotbed in Texas.

If they could get the Longhorns to join the Big Ten they should absolutely do it. While they have struggled lately, they are a power just waiting to come back up to the top.

Texas would bring very good programs and a ton of money to the Big Ten if they were to join. They are also part of the AAU, which again is a big deal to the conference.

Texas would be probably the best-case scenario for the Big Ten if they wanted to add a school, but there is still one more that might fit just a little bit better.
