1. Kansas

Getting Kansas into the Big Ten would be an absolute home run. The only thing that would keep them behind Texas is the geographical reach, but besides that, there is nothing to not like about the Jayhawks.

Yes, the football team has been bad, but with Les Miles leading the way they are starting to make some strides and will be better sooner than later. They should be competitive soon and can’t be any worse than some of the teams in the Big Ten in football.

But the big draw would be the basketball team. Kansas has dominated the Big 12 and would be so much fun to have in the Big Ten. Imagine a Kansas vs Indiana game in the middle of February with conference title aspirations in mind.

Having the Jayhawks compete against the Hoosiers in basketball along with Michigan State, Michigan and Purdue would be great. The ratings would go through the roof for those games.

Kansas also would be natural rivals with Nebraska and Iowa geographically and again wouldn’t be a bad trip for anyone in the conference.

They like the other schools on this list are part of the AAU and would check every box for entry into the Big Ten. While Notre Dame would probably be the Big Ten’s first call if they expand, the Jayhawks should be a close second.

A dream scenario would have the Big Ten add both Texas and Kansas and if that happened, the conference would be an absolute power with their reach to a lot of the nation geographically.

If the Big Ten looks to expand these are the schools they should look at first and improve the overall strength of the conference.
