Indiana Football: Players that they are glad are gone

Jonathan Taylor

Indiana hasn’t played Wisconsin in two years but that doesn’t mean they avoided the wrath of Jonathan Taylor. Three years ago, when he was just a freshman, Taylor lit up the Hoosiers for 183 yards on the ground and a touchdown. He helped lead the Badgers to a 45-17 win that day.

All Taylor would go on doing in his college career is run for 6,174 yards and 50 touchdowns in just three years. He was arguably the best running back in the country last year and had he not had a couple of down games he may have won the Heisman. Or if Joe Burrow didn’t go off for LSU but that is a different story.

While the Hoosiers are going to be very glad that Dobbins is gone, they will be happier that Taylor is gone. Especially because they are playing the Badgers in the first game of the year when players are well-rested and ready to go.

Taylor was a menace to the whole conference and has been the best running back over the last three years. He was nearly impossible to stop even for the best defenses, and the Hoosiers have not had the best defense in the last few years.

Even with a hopefully improved defense this year, the Hoosiers would still have had a very tough time trying to stop Taylor. He was a shifty quick back who was nearly impossible to take down.

The Hoosiers were lucky enough to only have to deal with Taylor one time and thankfully they won’t have to try and stop him this year. Not having Taylor there this year is a big deal. With him on the roster, the Badgers would be a big a huge favorite over the Hoosiers. Without him, the Hoosiers have a very good shot of upsetting the Badgers and we actually picked them to do just that.

Taylor is definitely the top guy the Hoosiers are happy is gone.
