The Indiana basketball team moved up the list of recruiting classes with the addition of Khristian Lander earlier this week.

Archie Miller may be criticized for not get the results on the court yet, but you can’t argue with his success on the recruiting trail. Miller is the first Indiana coach to pull in three straight Indiana Mr. Basketball award winners. Had Khristian Lander stayed in school there would be a good chance he would have four straight.

Three years ago Miller brought in Romeo Langford and last year he brought in Trayce Jackson-Davis who both won the coveted award. This year he did it again by nabbing Anthony Leal who also won the state’s top honor.

He is also bringing in fellow in-state prospect in Trey Galloway. He did step out of the state of Indiana to reel in Jordan Geronimo from New Hampshire. Bringing in those three guys had the Hoosiers rated highly in class rankings, but then Lander announced earlier this week that he was reclassifying and joining the class also.

That announcement had Indiana rise all the way up to 13th in the nation for the class of 2020. In their final rankings 247sports had the Hoosiers as the second-highest Big Ten school, one spot behind Michigan.

National powers Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina lead the final rankings. Some surprise names hit the top ten as Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State aren’t who you would have guessed to be up that high.

The Hoosiers great recruiting class along with Jackson-Davis among others returning have set Indiana up to be a darkhorse in the loaded Big Ten. Almost every other team in the conference has a lot of questions about who will be returning or have lost and that puts the Hoosiers in a great position to make a move.

Miller is taking care of business bringing in recruits and he finally has a team set up to play the way he wants his teams to. They just need to shoot better and playing with more consistency. If they can do that, they could be one of the top teams in the Big Ten and a threat to make a run in the NCAA tournament.
