Indiana is in the top five of the Big Ten

Verdict: Sell

By their record, Indiana is one of the top teams in the Big Ten, but by the eye test, they still have a bit to go. You can only play and win the games on your schedule, but we all know that the Hoosiers haven’t played anybody good so far. While they have gotten better they have still struggled to put away some teams so far this year. The return of Devonte Green should help but we just need to see more from them to put them higher in the conference.

Michigan State and Ohio State look like the two best teams in the country so far this year with Maryland right behind them. After that, it becomes a little bit of a jumbled mess.

Michigan has looked good so far but they are about to be tested in the Bahamas. Penn State is playing very well but again hasn’t played anybody great. Wisconsin is playing better than expected as their only loss is a tough overtime game against St. Mary’s. Illinois and Purdue have both shown flashes of playing well but have a couple of tough losses.

On the flip side, Northwestern and Nebraska are not good right now. Minnesota and Iowa have both looked less than inspiring even though the Hawkeyes have Luke Garza leading the league in scoring. Rutgers is still a mediocre team at best. That leaves five teams firmly behind the Hoosiers.

Indiana could make an argument to be above the Boilermakers and Fighting Illini but would have a hard time arguing to be above Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State so far. The Hoosiers aren’t far off, but we need to see a little bit more from them to put them in the top five of the conference. So sell on this at the moment, but check back in a month or two.
