Indiana rivalries: Kentucky loses third straight

Indiana fans have been doing a lot of laughing at Kentucky this season. On Saturday the Wildcats lost their third consecutive game.

It has been six years since the Hoosiers and Wildcats have met up to play a basketball game in the regular season, however they have met twice in the NCAA Tournament (1-1). Indiana and Kentucky is one of the best rivalries in all of college basketball, despite not having played in six years these two teams hate each other with a passion. Hoosiers fans have had plenty to laugh about this season, as the once prized Kentucky team has lost many games to worse teams than them. On Saturday, the Wildcats lost their third straight game to Texas A&M.

More from Hoosier State of Mind

This is one of the most strange Kentucky teams in many years. They have some of the best recruits in the country, yet they don’t have the one player who screams “Star” at you when watching them. Is John Calipari really that good of a coach? It seems as if whenever his team doesn’t have infinite amount of five-star recruits they begin to faulter.

On Saturday, they spiraled even further down the SEC conference. Coming into the week, the Wildcats were ranked 24th overall in the AP poll, but with three losses this week they likely will be falling out of the top 25 rankings.

Against Texas A&M, Kentucky continued to show many weaknesses. One of those weaknesses being that they still do not have that one go-to star on the team when buckets are needed. Many times this season Kevin Knox has looked like that guy, then games like his five-point performances happen and his confidence goes crashing down. In the Aggies game, Knox had one of his mediocre showings, putting up 18 points on 7-15 shooting, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Indiana fans hope that Kentucky continues to lose, any loss for the Wildcats is a happy sight for a Hoosier. Even though Indiana is not in the best position to make the NCAA Tournament, a Kentucky non-bid would be the best thing in the world.
