REPORT: Indiana Hoosiers RB Coach Deland McCullough to be hired at USC
By Jordan Maly
the Indiana Hoosiers will need to begin the process of finding a new running backs coach this season. Reports say Deland McCullough is headed to USC.
Deland McCullough has been with Indiana Football since the 2011 season under former head coach Kevin Wilson. The Indiana running backs coach pursued the vacancy at USC on Tuesday, and it seems now to be more than just an inquiry.
Tuesday afternoon, 247Sports reported the interview process for Deland McCullough for a similar position at USC:
"247Sports has learned that Indiana running backs coach Deland McCullough interviewed for the opening on USC’s staff for a similar position."
It seems that the interview went well and that Indiana will now have a vacancy of their own with McCullough taking the job, according to Football Scoop:

"Indiana running backs coach Deland McCullough will be USC’s new running backs coach, sources tell FootballScoop. Steve Wilfong 247’s director of recruiting first reported the interest. McCullough is a former FootballScoop Running Backs Coach of the Year finalist."
The Indiana Hoosiers have been wildly successful in producing running backs since McCullough came aboard. His first notable success story coming with Tevin Coleman. Coleman played three seasons for the Hoosiers and rushed for 2,036 yards and 15 touchdowns in his final year with Indiana.
Another one of his success stories comes with transfer running back Jordan Howard. Howard was only with Indiana for one season but propelled his career to the NFL. Howard was third in rushing yards in the NFL in his rookie season. The most recent running back who played under McCullough, Devin Redding, has declared for the draft and hopes to have similar success.
While Deland McCullough was with Indiana, he coached his way to breaking 19 school rushing records in just six seasons. McCullough has been noted as one of the best, young college football coaches in the game right now. He was one of the last coaches who was brought in under Kevin Wilson to leave Indiana for bigger, more lucrative programs.
