From the naked eye, Taysir Mack seems like any other recruit. Don’t let your first impression deceive you, because Mr. Mack is quite the savage.

Taysir Mack is a Brooklyn native who originally intended on playing Division I football close to home. Mack was originally committed to play for the Big Ten’s favorite ragdoll, RUTGER.  This was until Mack made the savage switch to Indiana University on National Signing Day, right before signing his LOI.

Taysir Mack is a savage, an intelligent savage who saved himself from four years of misery.

Not only does Mack bring that intelligent savagery to the Hoosiers, but he also brings great potential for the future of this Hoosier offense.

More from Hoosier State of Mind

According to 247Sports, Mack ranks as a 3-star wide receiver with plenty of room to grow. Mack is known for checking all the boxes as a receiving option thanks to his soft hands and his route running ability. The only thing Mack really needs to do to make it in the Big Ten is bulk up in size.

Mack is 6’3″ and comes in at just 175 pounds. Indiana certainly doesn’t need Mack’s immediate services thanks to the depth of Simmie Cobbs Jr., Mitchell Paige, Ricky Jones Jr., and Nick Westbrook, so expect to see the Hoosiers give Mack the proper time to build strength. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mack take a possible redshirt year and then join this Hoosier offense in later seasons.

Mack is an exciting prospect that if given time, should have an opportunity to make a major impact.

Mack also had offers from Penn State and Boston College. As a senior for Grand Street High School, Mack had 900 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns on 45 catches. Mack will be joining Jonah Morris and Phil Benker as receivers in the class of 2016.
