Indiana head coach Mike Woodson is on the hot seat after their loss last night to in state rival the Purdue Boilermakers. The Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team fought hard Friday night in West Lafayette, Indiana at the Mackey Arena but loss 81-76 on the road to their rival No. 10 Purdue.
The Hoosiers have lost five of their last six games and are struggling in the biggest stretch run of their 2024-25 season. It is truly make or break time for Indiana to have a chance at making the NCAA Tournament, which is just a month away entering February.
Head coach Mike Woodson and his Hoosiers still have to take on four AP Top 25 ranked opponents before entering the Big Ten Conference tournament and the other games are no locks to be fair. Those four ranked teams are No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 7 Michigan State on the road, No. 10 Purdue in a rematch at home in Assembly Hall and No. 16 Oregon in Eugene March 4th. Will coach Woodson survive?
Indiana is very much still in play as a bubble team but as you know college basketball fans it's not how you start it's how you finish.
The Hoosiers (14-8; 5-6 Big Ten)m head coach Mike Woodson talked about their struggles tonight: "We had some good runs, but our mistakes never allowed us to pull away," he noted post-game. Indiana's struggles were compounded by their free throw shooting issues, as they shot only 56.3% from the line, putting them at a disadvantage when it mattered most. Woodson stated
Woodson who just signed a two year extension in 2023 has two years left on his contract through March 31, 2027.
The Indiana athletic program brought in more than $170 million in its most recent fiscal year according to a recent report by the Bloomington Herald-Times so it won't be impossible to buy out Woodson if they miss the NCAA tournament this season.
Indiana Hoosiers MBB takes on the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison (WI), Tuesday Feb. 4th at 9pm E.T on the B1G Network for their next game.
