The Indiana Hoosiers are set for a true road test as they take on the Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena.
While the Hoosiers have had a pretty fantastic start to their season, opening with an 8-2 record, they have lost their only away game in a nine-point loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. However, Kentucky is just 6-4 overall and has yet to secure a win over a Power Conference opponent.
Despite the inequalities in the two teams' records, the Wildcats are favored to defeat the Hoosiers by a point and a half.
Kentucky favored over Indiana by slim margin
Yes, 1.5 points is about as minimal as the spread can be set ahead of tip-off, but still. Do the records not speak for themselves? Do the most recent performances not count? Do the rankings not mean anything?
Currently, the Hoosiers are ranked No. 22 in the country. The Wildcats? Well, they're unranked after suffering a blowout loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Meanwhile, Indiana is coming off a dominant 41-point victory over a fellow Big Ten opponent, the Penn State Nittany Lions, led by a 44-point performance from star transfer Lamar Wilkerson, who was actually a target in the portal for Kentucky and head coach Mark Pope.
To put it simply, as the Hoosiers have climbed in the rankings and continued to find success, the Wildcats have headed in the opposite direction, so Kentucky being favored over Indiana is disrespectful at best.
No. 22 Indiana and unranked Kentucky are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 13, and fans can tune into ESPN to see Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers try to pull off the upset over Pope and the Wildcats.
